Bloody Good Period

❤️

For the longest time I thought disposable pads and tampons were my only options. Every month, I made trips to the store to stock up on my supplies. I had to be discreet whenever I took my pad/tampon out of my bag and made quick runs to the washroom coz God forbid someone figured out that I was on my period! And at the end of each cycle, I contributed so much waste to the landfill.

Then I switched to a Menstrual Cup which was truly liberating for me. Made of medical grade silicon, they are reusable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective. As cups only collect menstrual fluid, it retains the natural moisture of the vagina. Coz of these reasons I am never going back to pads and tampons.

That said, Menstrual Cups take care and dedication. There is a learning curve and you must be comfortable with your body and your period blood. I am happy that I spent my time on it as I understood more about my body, my period and helped me appreciate our wonderfully unique anatomies. Menstrual Cups were the right choice for me. And all that I can say is, give it a try and figure out if it is the right choice for you (DM or comment if you have questions).

It’s 2019, and we have a lot of eco-friendly options out there (menstrual cups, cloth pads, period underwear etc). It’s time to think beyond traditional pads and tampons and have a bloody good period! 💃

Nice read. We are based in kajiado County, Kenya and w are planning to introduce cups to students since its more self-sustaining compared nonreusable sanitary pads
